Exact Results in Linear Thermomechanics of Uid-saturated Porous Media
Exact results are derived relating the various bulk moduli (frame, unjacketed, and pore) and heat capacity of inhomogeneous uid-saturated porous media to the pertinent thermal expansion coe cients and component moduli when only two porous solid constituents are present. The porous solids need not be space lling or in perfect welded contact, so these results apply to materials containing some vo...
متن کاملInfiltration in Porous Media with Dynamic Capillary Pressure: Travelling Waves
We consider a model for non-static groundwater flow where the saturation-pressure relation is extended by a dynamic term. This approach together with a convective term due to gravity, results in a pseudo-parabolic Burgers type equation. We give a rigorous study of global travelling wave solutions, with emphasis on the role played by the dynamic term and the appearance of fronts.
متن کاملNew Approach for Approximation of Dispersivity in Porous Media
This paper presents a simple yet powerful original approach for approximating dispersivity in porous media. The key to this approach is both use of least-squares criterion and image processing technique. Two dimensional transparent models, including horizontal and vertical configurations, under different combinations of grain sizes and pore velocities, experimented. Concentration data were obta...
متن کاملOn oscillating flows in randomly heterogeneous porous media.
The emergence of structure in reactive geofluid systems is of current interest. In geofluid systems, the fluids are supported by a porous medium whose physical and chemical properties may vary in space and time, sometimes sharply, and which may also evolve in reaction with the local fluids. Geofluids may also experience pressure and temperature conditions within the porous medium that drive the...
متن کاملStochastic Modeling of the Permeability of Randomly Generated Porous Media
Permeability of porous media in subsurface environments is subject to potentially large uncertainties due to the heterogeneity of natural systems. In this study, a first-order reliability method (FORM) is combined with a lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) to estimate the permeability of randomly generated porous media. The proposed procedure provides an increased ease of addressing complex pore str...
